How much space do I need?

A NOMAD stands on 60 × 70 cm, less than half a square metre. A DOCK is 80 × 80 cm. The dimensions of all four builds are on the products page.

Do I need a power socket?

Not for the NOMAD: it runs up to 24 hours on a single charge. The DOCK, TITAN and SLIM run on mains power.

Can it stand outdoors?

Yes. All builds are outdoor-ready. Do pick a smart spot: well lit and preferably not in full afternoon sun. Tips for outdoors →

How often does it need emptying?

That depends on the number of containers and the build. Because it compacts, hundreds of containers fit inside, and with the TITAN even around 12,000 cans. The machine reports by itself when it’s nearly full.

How do I get my handling fee?

Every return is counted and logged online in a report that’s ready for settlement. That lets you claim the scheme operator’s fee without Excel hassle.

What if it breaks down?

It reports itself. We fix many faults remotely, often before a customer notices anything.

Does it take glass?

No, Pop it in is made for plastic bottles and cans. Glass goes to glass collection.

How quickly is it up and running?

Set it down, give a quick briefing and switch it on: operational within fifteen minutes. No renovation needed.

How do I get my deposit back?

With a card refund: tap your bank card or phone on the terminal and the deposit goes straight back to your account. With some banks it arrives the next day. Where it’s set up, you can also get a voucher or donate your deposit to a good cause.

Which containers can go in?

Plastic bottles and cans with the deposit logo, from a small bottle up to 3 litres.

Should I crush my can?

Better not. The machine needs to read the barcode. A dent is fine, a flattened can isn’t.

Can the cap stay on?

Yes, with or without a cap is fine. It takes them bottom first or cap first.

I have a can from abroad. Now what?

Go ahead and pop it in. We recognise the container and take it, so it gets recycled. You just don’t get a deposit for it, because you didn’t pay one here either.

Glass?

No, glass can’t go in. It says so on the machine too: No glass!

It won’t accept my bottle. Why?

Usually the logo or barcode is unreadable, there’s still drink inside or it isn’t a deposit container. Empty and intact works best.

Can I return in the evening?

That depends on the location. Outdoor machines are often open longer. In a residential area it may have opening hours so as not to disturb the neighbours.
